More silly quiziness

FIRSTS

first best friend: Let me think.  The first I can remember was a girl named Brandy in preschool.  I mostly just remember hiding under the bed when one of our mommy's came to pick us up.  However, my best BEST friend is Katy - ever since we were about 10 years old.

first car: Volvo.  Black.  Automatic.... but that one got quickly replaced with a small, red Toyota Tercel

first date: Hmm, do we include prom?  (the one year I went to school....)  Beyond that, the first I recall was a picnic with a guy named George.

first real kiss: Junior year of college.  Keith Damanti.

first break-up: a very good thing.  Jared Doden.

first screen name: the same one I have now....  Taken from my "elf name" from church camp.

first self purchased album: I have no recollection of the event in question.  I'm guessing Junior High vintage, so I'm guessing Ska or old school punk of some variety.  Yah, I'm old.  I remember signing up for Spirit Song and ordering mountains of CCM.

first funeral: Grandpa, Daddy's side.  I was 8.  I bawled the whole time, refused to look in the casket for the viewing, and hated the music they played for the next five years.

first pets:  Several fish named George (no relation to first date).  First memorable pet of my own:  Kita, an Akita.

first piercings/tattoos: For my "junior high graduation"  my parents allowed me to have my ears pierced.  No tats or body piercings.... yet.

first credit card: my debit, age 12.  First real one was Frosh year of college.  I maxed it out.  My parents bailed me.    If only that had been my LAST credit card!

first true love: lets say first happy ending, that's much easier to define:  current, my husband Jerry Allen.

first enemy: I don't easily make enemies.  However, all prior abusive jerks I dated and/or married (lol, all of them - more like one each!) most likely hate me, as do their families.  Also, I'm pretty sure Jerry's ex wife isn't too keen on me either.

first musician you remember hearing in your house: Bach, or some other classical musician.  I grew up with the REAL oldies but goodies!

LASTS

last cigarette: been quite a while.  Probably one stolen from Jerry while at a show having a few too many.

last car ride: Jerry and I drove to church and back last night - but that's another story!

last kiss: Jerry, as he left for work this morning about 7am.

last good cry: It's been WAY too long.  I can hardly remember, but imagine it involved some frustration or misunderstanding about the past.

last library book checked out: the most recent Harry Potter - or Pride and Prejudice, both were right before moving out here.

last movie seen: Just watched Lady in the Water last night.  Pretty good!

last beverage drank: Guaranteed to be a Diet.  Sitting next to me on the desk.  *slurp*

last food consumed: Sugar Cookie.  Oh so bad for the health....  *sigh*

last crush: If it's current, is that the last?  Current is (of course) Jerry, but last prior that didn't work out would be Charlie.

last phone call: Phones?  I hate phones.    I think I probably talked to my Mom on the phone ealier this week, and hardly anyone else.  Though, I have some missed calls from "Unavailable" but I don't answer those.

last time showered: This morning, first thing.

last shoes worn: I have really cheap kids shoes from Payless on right now.

last cd played: I think I was listening to Lords of Acid.  But maybe it was Van Halen.  Either way, it's whatever is in my car right now.

last item bought: Hm, a Stouffer's lasagne for last nights dinner.

last annoyance: That Unavailable phone call.  Or possibly having to fish a decomposed shrimp out of the fish tank.  *yuk*

last disappointment: That the bank didn't release Jerry's paycheck.  But that's not so much disappointing as aggravating!

last time wanting to die: Probably right around the time I was in Asheville, NC.  Had to deal with my first serious breakup long distance, which wasn't good.  Still, I don't know if I've REALLY wanted to die since frosh year of college!

last time scolded:  By Jerry, this morning, for messing with his stuff.

last shirt worn: I have on a brown tank top and a red and black fleece right now.  Yes, I know, unmatched and hideous!

last website visited: Xanga, stealing stuff out of my old posts.

last words you said: Aloud or on IM?  Aloud would have been "I love you" to Jerry on his way out the door.  On IM would have been (let me see) in regards to the fish tank...

[11:37] mareth13: doesn't make the tank stop stinking
[11:37] mareth13: or get the gravel out of the carpet

last song you sang: Probably Radiohead Creep (singing along to Korn's version on the unplugged CD)

what is in your cd player?: Enigma:  Love, Sensuality, Devotion  (it's a 3 disk changer, and the other two CDs are Enigma:  2 the Cross of Changes and Enigma:  Screen Behind the Mirror).  Oh, and my CAR CD player is Lords of Acid or Van Halen.  Can't recall.

what color socks are you wearing?: white, with pink bottoms.

what's under your bed?:  Tons of storage.  Computer parts, empty boxes for stuff in the house, extra linens, wrapping paper box, etc.

what time did you wake up today?: 6:30am

.FUTURE.

where do you want to go?: On vacation (near future), to our own house (maybe in 5 years), on a trip to Europe again (maybe 10 years), and somewhere soon, home to visit my family!

what is your career going to be?: education - someday.  Tech writer for now.

where are you going to live?: Right here in VB!

how many kids do you want?: 2.  One boy one girl.  I can tell you all about them, if you like.  Brown hair, blue eyes, high IQ....  hey, they'd have Jerry and me for parents, they don't have a choice!

what kind of car(s): Get my Miata back (or a comparable convertible).  Also, get a boat, jet ski, and motorcycle - essentials for proper coastal living.

CURRENT.

current mood: bored, needing to get busy!

current music: Euro Dance, Vocal Trance, House, Techno.  I am not one dimensional.  I also like Jazz, classical, Hip Hop, Alternative Rock, etc.

current taste: Diet Pepsi

current hair: in a ponytail, stuffed in a bandana.

current longing: money

current desktop picture: Jerry on the beach

current favorite artist: Hmmm, DJ Micro, probably?  I listen to Tech Mix 5 the most.

current book(s): Isaiah, in the Bible.  RoboHelp 5 tutorial, prepping for work.

current color of toenails: in need of a pedicure.

current time-wasting wish: sleep is not a waste of time.

current hate: alarm clocks.  empty bank accounts.

current crush: Jerry!

Pics of the New Place

My hubby suggested that I start the site with our move to VB, since that makes the most logical sense.  So there will be some overlap from my old site, but oh well.

So, reposting some pics and text, here is the move to VB stuff!

The Big Move

As most of you know by now, for the last month or so, Jerry and I have been planning (and executing) a move from Ohio to Virginia! We ended up renting a 26 foot monstrosity from Penske for the move.  Jerry drove the truck and I drove my Rav... we left Jerry's truck in my Dad's garage, in pieces.

The Move 005

We arrived at our new house in record time - several hours less than we estimated, thanks to great traffic!  Here is Jerry in front of our new townhome.

We live in a very populated area, with restaurants, shopping, and so forth all within walking distance.  We're only 3 miles from the ocean!

Speaking of the ocean, the Atlantic is beautiful this time of you.  The tourists haven't arrived yet, and the waves are much bigger than they are in the summer.  We love it!  Here we are enjoying our new favorite passtime - soaking up rays after dinner!

There is a lot to explore here; I've found the mall, the auto parts store, Blockbuster, and the best grocery already, so we're doing Ok.    When we get more funds, there are all kinds of cool museums like the Virginia Beach Aquarium and all sorts of military museums, lighthouses, etc.

Now that we have lots more free time, we plan to take daytrips to the surrounding sights, like Williamsburg, DC, Monticello, Arligton, Mt. Vernon, and so on... if you've ever been to Virginia, you know this state is FULL of things to do and see!  Both outdoors and in.

We're all unpacked now.    What we really need is a storage shed, but we're on the waiting list.

Here is a floorplan of the place.  It's a little hard to visualize otherwise.

I'll go ahead and post some of the better pics of our new place!    Sorry to be so repetetive, but I'm all about continuity.

Here is the living room.

Ok, I draw the line at reposting pictures of the bathroom and the hallway, etc.

In other news, I got a job!  I start next week at the Coast Guard station in Elizabeth City, NC.  I'll be writing the help for their databases (RoboHelp).  My labor category is actually Application Developer Level 2.  How fun is that?  It's a long hike, over an hour each way.  However, I don't have to deal with the tunnel traffic like Jerry does (or anyone else heading North from here!).  Still, it's a nice sized commute - but beautiful, full of country scenery and bear crossing signs.  I kid you not.

Map

Well, I gotta get back to researching salt water aquatics for Jerry and working on a Christmas stocking.  Yes, I KNOW it's April, but do you know how slow I am at these things?    I have three to finish this year.  *sigh*

Makes me Laugh

While reading old Xanga's, I remembered how much more fun my entries used to be.  Lots of cool fonts and colors.  Lots of random quizzes and pictures, etc.    I should use this site more...  Hmmm....

So, without further ado, a random quiz!  One of my old favorites.  I posted one this time last year, and it's changed so much, even I was impressed with how quickly life turns around!

10 years ago I was:

  • 15 years old
  • Hanging out with Katy, still building forts (but thinking about college too)
  • Harboring dreams of becoing a brain surgeon
  • Spending hours reading medical textbooks, philosophy, and anything else I could read
  • Looking like a dork with my blue glasses and skinny legged jeans

5 years ago I was:

  • A CE Youth major at CU - about to change to Tech Writing
  • Wanting to go back to Germany
  • Accepted to Ohio State
  • Dating Keith - my first serious relationship
  • Working at the YJD with the best crew ever!

1 year ago I was:

  • Working at Woolpert (little did I know that was soon to end!)
  • Just starting a relationship with co-worker Jerry (now we're married!)
  • Partying a whole lot with the Woolpies
  • Moving out to Eaton from the city (and a whole new way of life)
  • Being thankful for the awesome family, friends, and co workers I was -and still am- amazingly blessed to have

Yesterday:

  • Watched an IMAX movie with Jerry
  • Bemoaned the lack of proper interweb connection
  • Ran errands (thankful that I've adapted to city traffic)
  • Checked out a cool new pet store/aquarium across town
  • Did the usual chores - cooking, cleaning, and ironing

5 snacks I enjoy

  • Diet Pepsi
  • All those sweets I bake for Jerry (and end up eating myself)
  • Cheez Its
  • Popcorn - but only Homestyle (by Pop Secret)
  • Anything with PNut Butter

5 songs I know all the words to:

  • Lots of techno songs (Castles in the Sky, Starry Eyed Surprise, and plenty more)
  • All that headbanger stuff Jerry forces on me (Korn, Dope, and old school 80s like Metallica and Pantera)
  • Tons of 80's songs, esp the power ballads, Boston, Bryan Adams, Journey, Chicago.... and so on and so on...
  • Losing My Religion - by REM
  • In Heaven - Fatboy Slim (if you know this song, you'll laugh really hard)

5 things I would do with 100 million dollars:

  • Pay off all my debts and give my parents an extra million for all the times they've bailed me out!
  • Buy a real house for Jerry and me - on the oceanfront - with a recording studio for him and a workout room for me with lots of mirrors and soudsystem and cool equipment, including a Nintendo WII workout station
  • Donate a big chunk to charity - through church and the community - to help the poor and homeless, and to cure diseases
  • Buy back my Miata - and this time make it the new Mazdaspeed version (and also buy Jerry his classic Camero), oh yes, and some matching kick ass motorcyles
  • Send both of our sets of parents (and ourselves), and heck, why not our siblings too, on separate year long vacations to wherever we all want to go

5 places I would run away to:

  • Home - why would I want to go anywhere else?
  • The beach - I know it's only 3 miles away, but it's so zen
  • If I were in a really bad mood, maybe I'd like to go back to Europe where I don't know anyone
  • If I'm only slightly cranky, I'd probably run back to my parents
  • I'd still like to go back to Asheville, NC

5 things I would never wear:

  • big hair
  • Spandex (except to the gym)
  • Stirrup Pants
  • any Michigan apparell (or Notre Dame, or Penn State, you get the idea... I do love my Buckeyes!)
  • Poofy Sleeves

5 favorite tv shows

  • Rock Star Supernova (if it were still on)
  • Man Show
  • South Park
  • Family Guy
  • Stand up Comedy on Comedy Central

5 bad habits

  • Biting my nails
  • Wasting time on the interweb, especially Xanga
  • Eating microwave food and pretending that Diet Pepsi is a "real meal"
  • Drinking, smoking, getting high - oh wait, this is ME we're talking about    Nevermind.
  • Jerry says I need more than five bullet points, so I guess setting Jerry off makes the list

5 biggest joys

  • Jerry!
  • No matter how bad it gets, knowing that somewhere out there God, my family, and so many friends love me and look out for me
  •  The fact that we live in our own place only 3 miles from the ocean, but not TOO far from family
  • That we both have good jobs and enough to get by
  • Hugs

5 favorite toys

  • Jerry!
  • My kitchen - cooking is what I do for fun these days
  • Bike, camping gear, anything that gets us outdoors
  • This stupid PC that needs an upgrade
  • All my art supplies for making scrapbooks, blankets, etc.

5 fictional characters I would date

  • Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice
  • Speed Racer - cuz he had a cool car
  • Marius from Les Miserables
  • Harry Potter
  • This list is stupid, I like reality better anyway.

Hello

Well, hello everyone!  Welcome to my new Xanga.  All fresh and clean - much better!
